Popular Swing Session stalwart and co-creator of the show from its infancy back in 2003, Paul Davis, has died after a short illness.
Paul, who lived in Willingdon, was an integral part of the popular Swing Sessions leading each concert and theatre bosses say his loss will be felt greatly by all those who knew him.
A council spokesperson said, “In true show business style and with Paul’s personal recommendation and blessing, local musical director Roy Hilton will lead the concert which will still take place at the Congress Theatre on Sunday June 26 at 3pm.
“This afternoon of music will be a wonderful celebration of the Big Band sound and a salute to the music of the late great Ted Heath, with members of his original band Ronnie Hughes and Bill Geldard.”
