TASTER events for people interested in adult community services, provided by small organisations and businesses in East Sussex, were a great success at the end of last year.

More than 100 people attended the events in Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Uckfield and Crowborough.

There was a chance to talk to a wide range of businesses showing what they could provide in flexible care and adult support tailored to individual needs.

This included ‘micro-providers’, which have five or less paid employees and also members of the Council’s Support With Confidence scheme, which is a list of approved and vetted businesses.

There was even a chance to try out some of the services on offer, including reflexology and apple-pressing!

Attendees included users of services, carers, support organisations and Adult Social Care staff.

Cllr Bill Bentley, Lead Member for Adult Social Care, said, “This was a great opportunity for everyone to see the wide variety of services on offer in East Sussex which can provide help, support and care to elderly and vulnerable people in their own communities.

“These events were well attended, which shows that our micro-provider and Support with Confidence schemes can be a real benefit to small and emerging businesses as well as residents.”
