Police investigating after a man suffered head injuries during an incident in Seaside Road, Eastbourne, are continuing to appeal for information, and have charged a woman with assaulting him.
The local man, aged 46, is still being treated at the Hurstwood Park neurological unit, Haywards Heath, where his condition is described as critical.
The victim suffered a serious head injury injuries following an altercation between him and two women in Seaside Road just before 11pm on Wednesday July 24.
A police spokesperson said, “It appears at this stage that an unknown man has intervened and assaulted the victim. He was last seen running off.”
He is described as white, in his early 30s, of tanned complexion, 6’, and of stocky athletic build with short cropped hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white footwear.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Pollard of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said, “We are currently following certain lines of enquiry and are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, as well as anyone else who has any other information about the incident.
“It is still not clear exactly what caused the altercation, or why the man intervened. We are still seeking the second woman, as well as the man whose description we have issued.”

* Ruby Heard, 25, of Lexden Drive, Seaford, has appeared at Eastbourne Magistrates Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to the victim during the incident. She was remanded in custody to Lewes Crown Court for a preliminary hearing there on August 23.
