The hunt to find a carnival queen and princess to lead this year’s Sunshine Carnival has begun.
We are looking for two people to take part in the procession on Saturday May 25 and are inviting ladies and girls to either send us in a photograph of themselves or go along to one of our special photo sessions in the Arndale Centre on Saturday April 26 and Saturday May 4.
Our photographer will be in the centre from 10am-4.30pm taking photographs of those who want to be crowned Carnival Queen and Princess.
There is no lower or upper age limit and the only criteria is that entrants live in the Eastbourne area.
All the entrants will be judged by carnival organisers and the lucky winners will win a makeover, have their hair done and get to wear the dress of their dreams on the day as well as take part in the procession, which starts at 4.30pm at Princes Park and wind its way along the seafront up to the Western Lawns.
Last year’s Carnival Queen was Chelsea Spence and Princess was Chantelle Miles.
Carnival pageant master Dave Cooper said, “We are very excited about the search for a Carnival Queen and Princess and hope ladies and girls in Eastbourne will enter the competition. Last year we had a Carnival King and Prince but have decided to just have a queen and princess this time around who will both travel on a float and wave at the crowds. The competition is open to all females, young or old.”
Anyone wishing to enter can also send their own photo and details to Carnival Competition, Eastbourne Herald, 26 Gildredge Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4SA or e-mail it to anne firstname.lastname@example.org
