THE SEAFORD community has the chance to sip Fairtrade tea and coffee at a tasting event this Saturday (February 26).
The annual Fairtrade Tasting will also feature home-made cakes and biscuits, prepared with Fairtrade ingredients.
The event takes place at Clinton Halls in Clinton Place starting at 10am.
The day will also incorporate a children’s art exhibition and a puppet show, both with the theme of Fairtrade.
The Fairtrade Tasting marks the start of Fairtrade Fortnight, which encourages people to buy goods marked with the Fairtrade logo.
Buying these goods guarantees that the producer gets a fair return and enables a premium to be paid, which is used to create community facilities, such as schools, water supplies or health centres.
Fairtrade goods are widely available in Seaford, which achieved recognition as a Fairtrade Town in 2007.
