A GRANDFATHER from Seaford is planning to enjoy a luxury retirement after winning £1.1million on the lottery.

Robert Hutchinson’s numbers came up trumps after he played online and opted for a lucky dip.

The 62-year-old‘s wife, Carol, discovered they had won in the Lotto draw the following day when she checked their emails.

The couple soon realised they had banked £1,158,083 in the Lotto draw on Saturday June 11 but HGV driver Robert said it took a while to sink in.

“The email said we had some good news,” he said.

“My wife almost passed out, she couldn’t believe it.

“I thought I believed it but it was a shock, it took a while so sink it.”

Robert, who said he and Carol had only won the odd £10 on the lottery and a one-off sum of £100, was planning to retire at Christmas but brought the date forward after learning of his good fortune.

Carol, 67, who is already retired, and Robert are now planning to enjoy their retirement and new found wealth. The couple have a holiday to Cornwall already booked, but now plan to upgrade.

Robert added, “We wanted to go to the Scilly Isles but the helicopter was quite expensive, so we were thinking about the three-hour ferry ride.

“We can now fly in the chopper which will be fantastic.”

Other purchases include Robert’s dream car – a Peugeot 407 Coupe, a trip to Italy, and a new bathroom.

The couple will also be helping out the four children they have between them, and the eight grandchildren.

The winning ticket was bought online at www.national-lottery.co.uk.

The winning numbers from the draw were 9, 11, 35, 37, 40 and 45.

The jackpot prize was shared between four lucky ticket-holders.
