SEAFORD has bid farewell to a popular and much loved priest and her husband who retired this month.

The Reverend Christine Doherty and husband Eric (pictured above) came to the parish from Framfield in May 2003.

Chris has been Priest in Charge at St Luke’s Church in Walmer Road since her arrival and for the past year also in charge of the whole parish of Seaford following the retirement of its incumbent in July 2010.

David Hoare, secretary at St Luke’s Church, said, “Chris will be greatly missed by the people of Seaford Parish, in particular those at St Luke’s and no doubt by the many people who have benefited from her caring ministry over the past eight years.

“Eric has also made a valuable contribution to parish life by being a Pro Warden at St Luke’s for a time and in more recent years as a Verger at St Leonard’s church.”
