BRAIN power and a mix of community support saw hundreds of pounds raised for good causes.

The mayor of Seaford Councillor Bob Allen was delighted to raise around £250 for his chosen charities - the Seaford Citizens Advice Bureau and the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) - following a quiz night.

Cllr Allen said, “It was a really fun evening and a marvellous way to raise money. Thanks not only to those who took part but also to those behind the scenes who made the event possible.”

The event was hosted by the landlady of the Hampden Arms Public House, Michaela Twaits, who was a long time resident of Seaford and is a supporter of the NCI.

The quiz was won by an all-female team, named ‘Andy Gray’s Microphone’, with The Royal Society of St George’s team ‘The Dragons’ coming a close second and the NPS Lions team third after a tie-breaker. The winning teams received engraved trophies and all entrants enjoyed a table buffet.

The Royal Society of St George donated two limited edition packs of cards for auction, which raised £44 on the evening.

The mayor’s next quiz night is at the Seaford Rugby Club on Wednesday February 16 at 8pm. Booking is essential and can be done by calling Seaford Town Council on 894870.
