A GLADIATORS star attended the official opening of Seaford Head Community College’s (SHCC) new sports hall.

Jenny Pacey, aka Enigma from the Sky 1 series, opened the college’s new facility along with Ian Broadbridge from the Department of Education, Sport and PE.

The event took place on Wednesday May 18 at the college’s Steyne Road site.

The sports hall is for the benefit of both pupils at SHCC and the wider community.

In addition to the main sports hall, specialist facilities include indoor cricket nets, archery nets and an analysis/teaching room. There are also changing rooms and shower facilities as well as a reception area.

Speeches were made by the college’s principal Lynton Golds as well as Jenny Pacey.

Jenny is an international bobsleigh driver, international athlete, TV presenter and model.

She cut the ribbon along with Mr Broadbridge to officially declare the facility open, which saw a round of applause from students.

The sports hall has been built using money from the Department for Education which was granted to SHCC following a visit by Mr Broadbridge from the PE & Sports Team within the Government Department. East Sussex County Council provided additional funding as well as the school raising money through various fun activities and events.
