The Seaford community is gearing up for some festive fun as its Christmas Magic and Late Night Shopping Event comes to town next week.
Shoppers have the chance to browse goods and snap up goods for loved ones at the town’s businesses, with many staying open until late.
The date to put in your diary is Friday December 7 and the fun begins at 5pm with the opening of stalls selling food and gifts and raising funds for charity.
The event has been organised by Seaford Town Council in conjunction with the Seaford Chamber of Commerce.
Seaford mayor Councillor Linda Wallraven, said, “It was a success last year and we hope we can match it.
“We hope it’s well supported - it usually is - and that the weather is kind.
“The lights were spectacular last year and hopefully they will be again for everyone this year.”
One of the highlights of the night will be at 5.30pm when Cllr Wallraven will join Father Christmas to switch on the lights outside of Barclays bank.
Youngsters will then have the chance to meet the jolly figure in his grotto at Redgold Opticians.
Funfair rides will return to the side streets during the evening adding to the festive fun alongside street performances by choirs, singers and other entertainers.
The event goes on until 9pm and Broad Street, Place Lane, High Street and Sutton Road will close to all traffic at 2.30pm to allow stalls and entertainment areas to be set up.
Gerri Ori, big events organiser for the Seaford Chamber of Commerce, said, “I think it’s going to be a cracking evening.
“It’s a collaboration between the town council and the chamber of commerce and we’ve worked hard to get this event going and we hope it will build on the success of last year.”
