A SEAFORD garden event was officially opened by the mayor and helped raise funds for a good cause.

Geoff Stonebanks has spent years putting the final touches to his garden in Marine Drive.

Seaford mayor Councillor Linda Wallraven was at the garden on Saturday, July 23,when donations from visitors totalled £106 which will go towards maintenance at St Andrew’s Church in Bishopstone.

The garden has opened 28 times over the last two years, had more than 2,100 visitors and raised £3,700 for various charities. The garden has been listed in the Independent magazine as a seaside garden to visit.

The next opening is on Sunday August 14 for the mayor’s charity Waves when once again there will be cup cakes served in the garden along with decorations, sculptures for sale and a find the gnome competition for children.
