A VISIT to Seaford by the hit Rhos Male Voice Choir has helped raise funds for a Bishopstone church.
The 48 members took part in the concert at St Leonard’s Church, which included the singing talents of Joelle Meakin from Eastbourne College with the school’s head of music David Force at the piano.
The audience was treated to a spirited rendition of Men of Harlech and Onward Christian Soldiers plus a number of Welsh pieces which the choir will be singing next Saturday when they give a joint concert with Treorchy Male Voice Choir from South Wales.
The concert was in aid of St Andrew’s Church in Bishopstone where the rainwater goods have to be replaced at a cost of around £13,000. The evening has raised £1,200 towards this project and three younger members of the choir also helped a further cause.
The trio cycled the 300 miles from Rhos to be with their colleagues and had been sponsored to collect money for the neo-natal unit at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
They were rewarded by the generosity of a Seaford audience who, having thoroughly enjoyed their entertainment, dug deep into their pockets to put £291.33 into the buckets at the church door on their way out.
