The Salvation Army is celebrating 125 years in the town this year and a music festival at the weekend kicked off the anniversary.

Eastbourne Citadel’s music sections took to the stage at the Langney Road Citadel for a performance with the history of the church displayed in a photographic exhibition. Previous Majors Stuart and Gillian Dicker were the special guests.

The celebrations continue on March 21 and 22 with a visit of international staff songsters, a visit of Territorial Commanders and a Saturday Night Music Festival on May 9 and 10 and a reunion weekend and festival on the weekend of June 6 and 7.

The finale will be a visit of divisional youth chorus for a festival on Saturday October 17. All events are taking place at the Langney Road church.
