Rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Eastbourne Rugby Club this afternoon (Wednesday) as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour. It will also visit the Team Base at Eastbourne College and Brighton University Eastbourne campus later today as part of the Tour’s visit to Eastbourne.
The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour has travelled through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Wales, continuing the journey through England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
As part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour, Eastbourne RFC will open its clubhouse between 2.30pm and 4.30pm to anyone who wishes to come along and view the Webb Ellis Cup.
Chairman Fraser Brooks said, “We are tremendously excited to have been chosen to display this great Trophy, there is a real buzz across the town and the club as a whole.”
The journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story.
Rugby is at the heart of the Trophy Tour engaging with over 100 rugby clubs, organisations and rugby festivals, from grassroots to elite.
Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour information can be viewed at rugbyworldcup.com/trophy-tour, full details on the locations and events will updated in the coming months.
