Royal Signals Association, Eastbourne Branch - annual meeting report

THE annual meeting was held on May 14 at the TA Centre, Seaside, Eastbourne.

The chairman and secretary were re-elected unopposed. The branch treasurer, Gwen Field, has decided to stand down.

Gwen has held the post of treasurer since May 1995 and has served the branch excellently over the past 14 years.

The meeting gave her a unanimous vote of thanks for all her work on behalf of the branch.

The annual dinner is to be held on October 10 at the Royal Eastbourne Golf Club.

Members were reminded that the Redoubt Museum is now open for the summer and includes a Royal Signals section outlining the history of 56 Signal Squadron (V) and Corps Troops in Eastbourne.

The branch is open to all those who wear/wore the 'Jimmy', either serving now, ex-regular, TA, National Service, ATS or WRAC.

The branch meets on the second Thursday of each month at the TA Centre at 8pm.

There is a varied programme, including an annual dinner in the autumn and the annual meeting in May. A bi-monthly newsletter is also produced keeping members up to date with branch and corps events.

The Eastbourne branch covers the whole of East Sussex and has members throughout the county.

Please contact the chairman, Chris Deadman, on 765488 or the secretary, Ron Brodie, on 01435 813724 with any membership inquiries. Alternatively, please attend any meeting, where you will be made most welcome.
