An Eastbourne teenager is hoping to become a presenter on the popular BBC Blue Peter programme.
Eighteen-year-old Rory has taken to YouTube to give his reasons why he should be the next presenter of the children’s programme.
He is hoping his self-produced showreel will catch television bosses’ attention and bag himself a spot on the upcoming series So You Think You Can Be A Blue Peter Presenter.
The X Factor-style show, due to be launched in the summer, will be hosted by popular duo Dick and Dom. If Rory wins, he would join the present team of Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton.
Rory was born in Eastbourne District General Hospital in 1994 and lived in the town for five years before moving away. He returns to visit family and hopes to move back soon.
He said, “Media is truly my dream job.
“I would love to get this job because I have a big interest in all aspects of media and would be able to take part in lots of interesting and sometimes challenging activities.
“I am an energetic, creative and motivated person and this job would suit me well.”
In his spare time Rory plays rugby and enjoys reading history of football and rugby.
In a first for the world’s longest-running children’s TV show, the next lucky presenter to join the Blue Peter team will compete through challenge-based heats to reach a final where the winner will be chosen by people who watch the CBBC channel.
Rory is hoping people will follow him on his Twitter account for support.
“I would love to build some support and get the people of Eastbourne behind me,” said Rory.
