Road rage attack leaves victim needing stitches

A motorist was left needing stitches after he was attacked in a road rage incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 34-year-old victim from Eastbourne was set upon by a group of three men, after he was involved in a collision with a Ford Focus.

The victim, who was driving a metallic blue Audi TT, collided with a black Ford Focus at around 8.15pm on Thursday (October 3) as the vehicles headed south into Eastbourne on the A2270 Willingdon Road close to the Victoria Road junction.

The Ford drove on but the Audi driver turned his vehicle around and parked it in Southdown Road.

Shortly afterwards the Ford came back down the A2270 and a group of men got out and attacked the Audi driver.

He was chased into Victoria Drive and struck with what appeared to be a length of wood. He suffered a deep cut to his head and was taken to the DGH with stitches.

The three men who attacked him ran from the scene into Southdown Road.

Detective Constable Andy Mountford-Laker said, “This was a particularly nasty attack on a driver who tried to avoid a confrontation by heading away from his attackers.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who saw the attack taking place or who saw the vehicles being driven in the minutes before or after the attack.”
