Members of Eastbourne Lifeboats are mourning the passing of Daphne Lake who lost her fight against illness last month.

Daphne, who died on April 24, was a member of the RNLI fundraising committee for 41 years.

Bob Jeffery, press officer for Eastbourne RNLI, said, “The lifeboat fundraising committee was her pride and joy, her contribution will be sadly missed.”

Daphne was also a keen supporter of the Scouting movement and helped with her local Cub Scout pack from the age of 16. Daphne became assistant Cub Scout leader at the age of 18.

Daphne was also a very strong member of the church community and supported the St Richards Church in Langney with many roles.

The funeral will be held on Friday May 17 at 11.15am at St Richards Church.

The family have requested no flowers but donations please to either Eastbourne RNLI or St Richards.
