Rider fighting for life after Eastbourne crash

A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital and a driver arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving a crash in Eastbourne on Sunday afternoon (June 24).

The 51-year-old motorbike rider from Telscombe Cliffs received serious, potentially life-threatening injuries when his Suzuki motorcycle was in collision with a Vauxhall Vectra driven by a 42-year-old man from Hailsham.

The collision happened at 4.42pm at the junction of Seaside and Whitley Road. The injured man was flown by air ambulance to Kings College Hospital in London. The Vauxhall driver, who was uninjured, was later released on bail until August 24.

The road was closed while rescue and recovery work took place and reopened around 9pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to call 101 quoting Operation Colorado.
