A resident living in the town centre fears an alleyway near her home is being used by drug users.

Sue Harris, of Ashford Square, said around six needles, along with spoons were spotted in the walk through and she is worried that youngsters could come in to contact with them.

She said the alleyway was also being used to dump rubbish including mattresses (pictured right)and other items and that the area needed clearing up.

She said, “We have a big [drug] dealing problem around here.

“I have been in touch with the police about this.

“It has been going on for about four months and is in fits and starts.”

Mrs Harris said people also used the alleyway to drink alcohol and is keen for something to be done.

She added, “It’s obviously concerning, a lot of the residents have children. The people responsible could throw their needles over in to the gardens and with the summer children could go out there and pick it up.

“There is also dogs and cats that go down that alleyway.

“People also congregate down there at around 9pm or 10pm and are drinking as well.”

Mrs Harris says it had become a dumping ground and that the area needed tidying up.

Sussex Police and Eastbourne Borough Council were unable to provide a comment to the Gazette at the time of going to press.
