An Eastbourne soldier is taking part in pre-deployment training before heading off to Kabul.

Lewis Wieland, a self-employed bricklayer, is a reservist with 4 Platoon, 3 Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (3 PWRR – known as the Tigers).

This year they will take up duties of Force Protection in Kabul, under Op Toral, the UK’s continued support to Afghan National Army (ANA) officer academy and training.

Lewis (pictured above left) said, “I am looking forward to working alongside our full time counterparts when we deploy to Kabul; when you look around the platoon you cannot distinguish between the regular soldiers and the reservists.”
