Refuse collectors have suspended their strike action.
GMB members, employed by Kier Environmental Services, were due to strike on Thursday and Friday (March 12 and 13).The 154 members across Hastings, Rother and Eastbourne were due to walk out over an alleged failure to address serious health and safety concerns and reports of bullying and intimidation. Charles Harrity, GMB senior organiser, said strike action was being suspended following negotiations on the March 10.
A Kier spokesperson said, “Kier takes the concern of employee well-being and health and safety very seriously and we have robust procedures in place to protect our people and address any concerns. We are committed to ongoing discussions and have met with the GMB on a number of occasions over the past few weeks to discuss issues that the union has raised and which we have responded to.”
