Keepers at Drusillas zoo have been helping the animals keep cool in the heatwave.

The zoo team has stocked the freezers with giant lollipops, made with frozen fruit, and racoons, otters and many of the primates have been tucking in.

The lollies will also form part of their daily enrichment programme by encouraging them to work a little harder for their food as they would in the wild.

One group that has welcomed the warmer weather is the residents of Lemurland. The zoo’s ring-tailed lemurs love to sunbathe in the soaring temperatures. However, the pigs have needed some high factor sun cream applied to their skin to prevent sunburn.
