Pupils at Oakwood Primary Academy were delighted after receiving a family postcard of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after the children wrote to Buckingham Palace to congratulate the pair on the birth of their son George.
As part of a topic pupils at the school were studying on Great Britain the children asked if they could send some letters and messages congratulating Prince William and Kate Middleton on their new arrival.
The finished pieces of work were sent off to Buckingham Palace and last week the school received a package from Buckingham Palace with individual replies and a family picture, thanking them for their kind words. It read, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were most touched that you took the trouble to write to us as you did on the occasion of the birth of their son, Prince George. Their Royal Highnesses have been overwhelmed by all the wonderful messages they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”
The children were presented with the postcards at a school assembly.
His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born on July 22.
