Pub lotto aid for armed forces

A NEW lottery has been launched for pubs across the UK, which will benefit members of the armed forces who are in need.

In partnership with InterClub Lotteries, the RAF Association has developed a charity version of the very successful lottery ticket dispensing machines.

In a similar way to traditional scratch cards, the innovative scheme delivers a one in three winning ticket, generating money for the pub or club hosting the machine, as well as much needed funds for the charity involved.

It is hoped that the machines will raise thousands of pounds for the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal, which provides help and support for past and present members of the RAF and their families.

Neil Everall, the RAF Association’s direct marketing manager and the project manager, said, “RAF personnel and their families dedicate their lives to our country.

“The Wings Appeal’s mission is simple: to ensure that their sacrifice does not result in suffering, loneliness or poverty.

“We are thrilled to be working with Interclub, who have been instrumental in the success of this project.

“Together we look forward to generating loads of money to help support those RAF heroes who need our help.”

As a charity the RAF Association receives no government funding and is entirely dependent on the generosity of the general public to carry on their work.

Whether it’s an injured airman fighting to get back onto his feet, a young child missing their parent away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on, the RAF Association Wings Appeal stands ready to help.

Available now for use in pubs and clubs, the funds generated from the machines will go to support the specialist welfare work needed to support the RAF community.
