Eastbourne Arts Circle has held the presentation of prizes for the Geoffery Williams Art Bursary on March 6 at the Birley Centre – set up after the sad loss of former chairman Geoffrey Williams.
The Eastbourne Arts Circle bursary consists of one award for sixth formers of £500 and two awards of £250 each for those 14-16.
The competition was open to pupils attending schools in Eastbourne. The competition was judged by Elda Abramson, artist and textile designer, Dr Susan Conway, a painter teacher and author, together with Lucy Goffin, textile designer. The prizes were presented by Simon Davies, headmaster of Eastbourne College.
The senior bursary of £500 was won by Connor Baxter of Sussex Downs College. Unfortunately he could not be present, but his prize was collected by Nigel Allyson-Ryan from the College. The two prizes in the 14-16 age group were won by Mia Sundby of Cavendish School, and Danielle Bates of Lindfield School.
