A power cut hit around 1,000 homes in Eastbourne last night (Sunday October 13).
A UK Power Network spokeswoman said: “UK Power Networks engineers worked as quickly and as safely as possible to restore electricity to customers in the King’s Drive area of Eastbourne yesterday evening.
“Supplies were lost at 6.34pm following a cable fault on the underground network, affecting 1,005 customers, though 414 had power restored within half an hour.
“Another 591 had supplies restored at 7.22pm. The rest had power restored in stages by 8.12pm apart from 144 customers, who were all reconnected by 10.27pm.
“We understand how difficult it is to be without power and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
