A TEAM of colleagues from a Berwick-based company celebrated their sporting victory at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.

The group from Posturite Ltd became the new holders of the Six-a-Side Corporate Cup of Soccer after beating a team from Google on penalties in a tense final.

It’s the first time that Posturite - an ergonomics company - entered the competition and the only time the cup has been won by newcomers.

The team cruised through the group stages, quarter final and semi-final without conceding a single goal.

Google, which included players from Ireland and Scandinavia in its squad, scored first but an equaliser from top scorer Dan Delgado took the game to a penalty shoot-out which Posturite won 5-4.

Team captain Chris Hollely, regional manager for London and South East, said, “It was a magic moment when the final penalty went in.

“All nine lads jumped around celebrating in front of the famous Kop stand like we’d just won the real World Cup. Everyone was singing We Are The Champions.”

Chris was joined in the Posturite squad by Mat Jones (goalkeeper), Matt O’Sullivan, Gaz Edwards, Antony Burns (named Player of the Tournament), Paul Lindsay, Jon White, Charles Webster and Dan Delgado.
