Police are investigating reports of a woman being raped in broad daylight along the Cuckoo Trail.
Detectives are investigating the incident after a woman reported being raped in Pig Lane, Eastbourne, at 11am on Monday.
According the Sussex Police, the woman was walking along the Cuckoo Trail when she saw two men, one of whom was known to her. She said she was pushed to the ground and raped before they ran off. She sought medical treatment before it was reported to police yesterday (Tuesday).
Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said: “We would like to speak to a man who was walking his dog who may have spoken to two men and a woman in this location.
“It is also possible that two teenagers walking together saw these three people.
“Local officers are patrolling the area to identify any witnesses and offer reassurance to people who use the footpath.”
