Police appeal after woman attacked in Eastbourne

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery and assault on a 25-year-old woman who was attacked in Latimer Road on Thursday (August 6).

The victim was walking to work between 7.30am and 7.50am when she was approached from behind by a man who pulled her black handbag off her shoulder.

She managed to hold onto the bag until her hand was slapped. The suspect then ran off up St Aubyns Road towards Seaside.

The man is described as white , aged 45 to 50, 5’ 8” and of average build. He had a gaunt face which was clean shaven and he appeared to have shaved grey hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark stonewash jeans, a red baseball cap and white trainers.

PC Louis Morley said, “Fortunately the victim didn’t suffer any physical injuries but she is shaken up by the incident. Please contact us if you have any information which could help us with our investigation.”
