Police appeal after man was bitten by dog

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was bitten by a dog in Eastbourne.

The victim in his 40s was walking along a footpath leading to the South Downs which is located behind Abbey Road at around 11.30am on Tuesday April 2 when two dark coloured Staffie type dogs approached him. One bit him on his arm causing a puncture wound.

PC Jason Campbell from Eastbourne Neighbourhood Police Team said, “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident and in particular anyone who knows the woman who was with the dogs and told the victim that she was their owner but that they were rescue breeds.

“She is described as white, early 20’s, 5’ 2” of slim build with messy blond shoulder length hair.

“Please call 101 quoting serial 543 of 2/4 if you have any information that could help police with their enquiries or alternatively leave an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
