Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was bitten during a town-centre brawl on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25).

Shortly after 2pm on Monday afternoon, police were called to an alleyway between Cornfield Road and Bolton Road, where two men were reported to be fighting.

Both men were local and aged 40. One suffered two bites to his hand and bruising to his head. Although a Staffordshire terrier was present at the scene, the bites were caused by a human. The man was treated at the Eastbourne DGH before discharging himself.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “Several people rang in to report the altercation and officers are continuing to investigate. Anyone who saw what happened and who has not yet spoken to police is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 808 of 25/5.”
