Police are appealing for information after a Polegate resident was targeted by distraction burglars.
At around 11am on Wednesday, August 5, two men called at a house in Brookside Avenue, Polegate and told the home owner there were various maintenance jobs that needed to be done to the property.
They focused on some guttering and said they could clear it for £30, to which the resident agreed.
The resident went into the house to get the money, but was called back by one of the men and distracted.
When they returned to the house, a quantity of cash was found to be missing, and the two men had gone.
The men were driving a silver hatchback car, similar to a Ford Focus.
One of the men is described as white, tall, and wearing long orange-coloured Bermuda-style shorts.
The other man is tall and was wearing a white top and blue shorts. Both were between 25 - 40 years of age.
Detective Constable Annie Nash, said: “Police advice is never to deal with people who arrive unannounced at your door and offer to carry out work or provide services of any kind.
“We want to hear from anyone who may have been visited by these two men, or seen a similar car in the area at the time of the incident.
“If anyone has any information, I would ask them to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 101, quoting serial 549 of 05/08.”
Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
