Police are appealing for anyone who saw this man leaving Ladbrokes in Seaside, Eastbourne, just after 9am on Monday to get in touch following an armed robbery at the betting shop.

At around 9am a man approached the till to place a bet but when the counter assistant was processing the bet he realised the man was pointing a gun at him. The suspect told the victim to open the safe and give him the money.

The victim placed a quantity of money in a bag and gave it to the suspect who walked out of the shop, removing the balaclava he was wearing as he went and headed in the direction of Firle Road.

DC Jim Austin said, “The victim was not injured but was understandably left very shaken. We want to talk to anyone who might have been in the Seaside area at the time and might have seen the suspect leaving the shop. This is a vey clear image of the suspect and we believe anyone who knows him would recognise him.

“The suspect is described as black, around 6’ 1” to 6’ 2”, slim with a wispy beard. He was wearing a black beanie hat, a black Nike hooded top, blue jeans and black shoes. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting Operation Wootton. Or alternatively the independant charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
