Police are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man from Eastbourne was assaulted near the Curzon Cinema in Langney Road early on Sunday September 6.

Officers were flagged down at around 2.50am by taxi staff who said there were issues between some men outside the taxi rank.

The victim made himself known to police and was taken to hospital by officers. He was treated for a mouth injury and has now been discharged.

A 19-year-old man from Eastbourne was later arrested on suspicion of inflicting GBH with intent and common assault. He has been released on bail until October 10.

PC Glen Saunders said, “Despite the early hour, we believe that there were still a lot of people in the area.

“If you saw something suspicious please either email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 0205 of 06/09.”

Witnesses can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
