EASTBOURNE Pier played host to a mammoth 24-hour fundraising effort for the RNLI which included exotic dancing, fishing and haircuts.

Celebrity hairdresser Jal Clarke was at the Ocean Suite at the weekend cutting and styling heads of hair while Leigh Baker, Dar-ra, Street Style 4 All and teenage crooner Tom Fitzpatrick served up hour after hour of entertainment.

Meanwhile, hardly souls Arran Aghili and Karl Gatward took part in a 24-hour sponsored fish from the end of the pier – with their catch being added to 40 sea bass donated by Azim Noormohammed before being auctioned off.

The entire event netted more than £1,300 – with every penny going towards funding a new lifeboat for the town.

A spokesman for the RNLI, which needs £700,000 in total, thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
