Fundraisers took part in the annual pancake race for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in the town centre on Tuesday (February 16).
Held a week after Shrove Tuesday, due to the bad weather on February 9, teams downed tools at work and raced against other businesses in a bid to raise cash for the local hospice. Shoppers stopped in the precinct to cheer on the fundraisers as they ran and flipped their pancakes.
A spokesperson from St Wilfrid’s said, “Congratulations to our friends, Town Property, who won the pancake race, dashing and flipping their way to a pantastic victory.
“A huge thank you to all of the amazing local businesses who took part and to everybody in town centre who stopped to cheer or pop some change in our buckets “As always, we feel very touched to be part of such a supportive, generous community.
“Today’s frivolity will help our nurses be there for the patients and families who need us. For that, every silly second was worth it.”
