A Pevensey man has been arrested in the Sussex Police pre-Christmas crackdown on drink driving.

Daryl Tones, 24, a scrap metal dealer, of Camber Way in Pevensey, was arrested in Sevenoaks Road, Eastbourne, on December 3 and charged with having 68mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system – nearly twice the 35mcg limit.

He is due to appear before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on December 23.

A total of 45 drivers have been arrested in Sussex since the campaign, called Operation Dragonfly and run jointly by Surrey and Sussex Police, launched on December 1.

Of these, 22 have been charged and bailed to appear at court.
