A local stalwart who has given many years of dedicated service to People Matter has been named April’s Resident of the Month.
Peter Moore became chair of trustees at the charity when it was set up in 1997 to provide information, advice, guidance and practical help to local job seekers, as well as offering training.
Peter joined the staff in 2000, and five years later became general manager.
Although he officially retired from that role in April, he has agreed to stay on as a training consultant and run a course once a fortnight.
Apart from the training, Peter is taking a six-month sabbatical to decide on his next move. It is likely to be working with another charity or church.
The Resident of the Month Award is jointly sponsored by Advanta Chartered Accountants and the Eastbourne Herald, and was introduced to recognise unsung heroes in the local community.
In recognition of his work for People Matter, Peter was presented with a certificate by Richard King, a director at Advanta.
Richard said, “Peter has dedicated many years of his life to helping others and certainly deserves this award.
“ Even though he’s now retired and could take the opportunity to enjoy a slower pace of life, he’s still keen to get involved with other charities in the future.”
As part of the award, Peter and a guest will receive a complimentary meal at Ridgways restaurant in Meads.
