THE MEDIEVAL Festival at Herstmonceux Castle returns this August Bank Holiday.

The festival will take place at the castle on August 27, 28 and 29.

There will be a range of attractions on offer as the moated castle of Herstmonceux is transformed into a living history encampment for the weekend.

Armoured knights will act out battles twice daily and The Theatre Royal, Brighton, will present a taste of Spamalot.

Falconry, longbow and crossbow competitions, archery displays, grand parades, puppeteers, jesters and strolling minstrels are among those providing the entertainment.

Visitors can also try their hand at archery at the festival.

There will also be a range of craft stalls, children’s activities and large variety of refreshments including a hog roast and award-winning locally brewed ales from Shepherd Neame.
