People urged to enjoy the parties, but to be careful

WITH the Royal Wedding just around the corner, Sussex Police is urging people to enjoy themselves responsibility.

The force says it also fully supports those with permission from their local councils to hold a street party and celebrate the historic occasion.

Chief Inspector Julia Pope of the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Sussex Police said, “The April public holiday will see a standard level of policing as with other public holidays.

“We are not anticipating an increase in calls.

“Sussex Police will play a supportive role and although there may be an increase in the level of drinking, we trust that this will be done in a good natured way.

“We wish everyone a happy and fun public holiday.

“However, I would like to remind home owners that when out celebrating the Royal Wedding to please remember to protect their property by locking doors and not leaving windows open.”

Sussex Police will not be sending additional support to the Metropolitan Police which is providing the security at the Royal Wedding.
