A 75-year-old man was pushed into the path of a bus in Terminus Road in an unprovoked attack.

The 75-year-old victim was leaving Rockwells Cafe shortly after 11am on Thursday (October 23) when he was pushed by a man in the doorway.

The man then shoved the victim again, sending the pensioner across the pavement and into the road so that he fell in front of a bus.

He suffered a broken finger and grazes, but the bus was able to stop in time and did not hit him.

The attacker went into the cafe but left soon after.

Police have recovered a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about the incident.

PC Kelley Matthews said, “The victim was left very shaken and suffered grazes to his hands and a fractured finger.

“This was a nasty, unprovoked attack and we are determined to find who is responsible.

“If you know who the man in the CCTV is, or where he could be, please contact us.”
