Pensioner injured in Eastbourne seafront accident

A 74-year-old man is recovering in hospital this morning (Tuesday) after an accident on Eastbourne seafront last night.

Emergency services were called after the pensioner was hit by a silver Ford Fiesta at 7.05pm as he was crossing the road in Royal Parade opposite the Redoubt and Military Museum.

He suffered head and body injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he was kept under observation overnight. A police spokesperson said, “His injuries are not currently assessed as serious.”

The car driver, a 22-year-old Eastbourne man, was not hurt.
