An elderly woman had to be treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in the Old Town.

Crews from Eastbourne Fire Station were called to a property in Avard Crescent just after 1.30pm today (Saturday, September 5) following reports of a fire in the kitchen.

The blaze was quickly extinguished and firefighters were stood down shortly before 1.50pm.
