SUSSEX Downs College hosted a Buddy Scheme Party as part of a thank you to the group which supports young people with learning disabilities.
The scheme runs social events across East Sussex including bowling, cinema, youth clubs and big days out. They are able to do this by recruiting other young people to buddy up with their members for support and so friendships can develop.
The event was supported by care students from the college who helped make the evening a success with event management including helping with a disco, karaoke and refreshments.
Anne Moynihan, curriculum leader for health and childcare, said, “The care students who attended really did us proud.
“They were fun, professional and worked hard all night to help the party run smoothly. It allowed our students an insight into working with teenagers with learning difficulties, as well as the practicalities of organising an event. Our thanks also go to the music department in the shape of music technicians Matt Kemp and Damian Evan-Jones who helped with the disco.”
