Pat Smith has without doubt been a blessing to many people over the years. Her commitmentto Jesus Christ and her freedom in expressing her devotion to him are an inspiration to all who have contact with her.
The past twelve months or so have not been easy for her as she has had to cope with ill health and bereavement.
Recently she wrote to me with a few lines of explanation ...
“I thought you might like the enclosed poem for Christmas. I was able to write it a few weeks ago.
If you can use it, please feel free.”
Christmas means more than this world has to offer;
Christmas meant Christ long before we were born.
A true gift from heaven that was sent from the Father,
When Jesus came down that very first morn.
He brought blessings from God in ‘peace’ that was endless.
Let us find it, let us find it. It’s here!
Oh yes, it means more than all that we make it;
More than money could ever afford.
Jesus our Saviour, Friend and Redeemer, come now to save us.
It’s all in His Word.
Oh, what good is wealth, it will only destroy us.
Let us find Him, let us find Him. He’s here!
As we approach the season of celebration, we may find ourselves in the same situation as the disciples of Jesus on the first day of Pentecost: ‘Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another,
“What does this mean?”’ The answer is not far away, of course.
