Well, that didn’t take long did it? No sooner had the council unveiled its American Airstream temporary cafe for the Wish Tower, members of the Moaning Minnies Brigade were out in force complaining about it not being the right thing, colour, size, blah, blah, blah. Don’t get me wrong.
I love a good moan up.
But I am well aware it’s the council’s fault the original Wish Tower Cafe and Sun Lounge had to be demolished in the first place after the authority turned a blind eye and let it turn into something resembling a ghastly Eastern European canteen.
But at least the council is now trying to right the wrong and there is now somewhere to stop and get a cuppa on a seafront stroll between Holywell and the Bandstand.
It’s only going to be there until July and if the Moaning Minnies don’t like it they don’t have to stop there for a brew and can just keep on walking by.
Someone please give Lori Cronin and Candy Foster medals for their little project to get irresponsible dog owners to clean up after their four legged friends.
Since the twosome started putting little flags in piles of offending mess the council has put in an extra poop scoop bin at the junction of Foxglove Road and Larkspur Drive.
Now all we need to do is remind the dog owners that do actually clean up after their pets to put their bags in the bins – and not hang them on branches of trees like unsightly Christmas decorations for somebody else to clear away.
It’s lovely to see the Royal Hippodrome being given a new lease of life by the town’s hoteliers and a visit there is on my list of to do things seeing as I am downing my notebook and pen to spend some time with the Little Treasures during the Easter break.
That, and the Airstream of course!
