An advice centre has opened in Albert Parade for the residents of Old Town.
The Here4U centre opened its doors in the premises next to the Co-op on Monday (February 18).
The scheme is organised by Old Town Community Church and will provide an advice service for local residents.
Local people will be able to talk about their housing difficulties, benefits issues, food band voucher enquiries, lifts to appointments and a wide range of other problems they may be experiencing.
Here4U volunteers aim to provide a friendly listening ear and will point people in the direction of the many organisations and agencies which may be able to provide practical help and advice. Volunteers also hope it will help people meet others in the community.
The centre will be open Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
There will also be the opportunity to pre-book appointments for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
There was an official opening of the centre at the weekend. Members of Old Town Community Church were joined by residents and local councillors to celebrate the opening of the centre .
There was live entertainment by local musicians and members of the community were given cakes. Councillors John Ungar and Janet Cole attended and cut the ribbon to declare Here4U open.
