Staff and little ones at an Eastbourne nursery are celebrating after achieving outstanding in all areas of an Ofsted report.

Owlets Nursery, based in Priory Road, came up trumps following an inspection in January.

The report stated ‘children are very happy’ and ‘motivated and eager to learn’ and said the nursery had ‘an enthusiastic and committed staff team’.

All three categories, including the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years provision and how well the early years provision meets the needs of the range of children who attend, received an outstanding grade.

The nursery opened in 2003 and looks after children aged two to five.

The report said, “The nursery places an extremely sharp focus on helping children to acquire communication and language skills, and on supporting their physical, personal, social and emotional development. Staff help all children make rapid improvement in their learning from their starting points.”

It also praises staff, adding, “An enthusiastic and committed staff team create a fully inclusive and exciting environment indoors and outdoors. Planning and assessment expertly support individual needs and as a result children are extremely confident and self-assured.

“Children make excellent progress in their learning and development.”

The document also said that the children thoroughly enjoy coming to the nursery because staff take great care to provide a ‘vibrant environment’ that is highly beneficial to learning.

Sam Roddick, manager of the nursery, said, “We’re absolutely delighted and it’s credit to all the staff who always strive for excellence in everything we do.”
