Wealden is looking for a her – someone who gives their time and energy to help local organisations in the area.

The distict council is also looking for the Young Volunteer of the Year, the Trustee of the Year and the Outstanding Community Achievement through Volunteer Hours.

Wealden District Council’s Volunteer Awards are taking place again this year and will be celebrated at a summer barbecue hosted by the Chairman of Wealden District Council, Cllr Brian Redman.

“Volunteers are so important to a large rural district like Wealden,“ said Cllr Redman. “They provide the bonds that make our communities more like families. There are many heroes out there who through their own time and dedication make other people’s lives so much better. Volunteers make Wealden a great place to live. They deserve to be honoured and thanked for what they do.”

Wealden’s Volunteer Awards categories are:

Community Volunteer Hero (the person who makes an outstanding contribution to the running of a group or contribution to a number of groups).

Outstanding Community Achievement Through Volunteer Hours.

Young Volunteer of the Year (under 25 years old).

Trustee of the Year.

The closing date for nominations is April 30. Nominations must be made by another volunteer or member of the organisation, or someone from a partner organisation.
